Effrat Akiri is a medical education advisor and head on assessment cluster in The Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. She completed her B.Sc. at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Technion. She also finished master’s degree in group counseling at Haifa University. The roles she has fulfilled during her career include management consulting, information systems analyst and planner analyst. Her Doctoral research, with her advisor Professor Yehudit Judy Dori, focused on novice and expert science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers, their professional growth, and the relationships between the mentors and their mentees – the novice teachers. Effrat Akiri’s current research links a system perspective of teachers’ professional growth, personal and interpersonal relationships, and the importance of teaching and assessing STEM disciplines.
